HUNTING

NORTH TARANAKI CLUB. The Taranaki Hunt Club met on Thursday at Mr. F. Salway's, Bell Block, in perfect weather. With Mr. A. Cliff (huntsman), Mr. E. Julian (acting-whip) j and Mr. B. H. Chaney (deputy-master) j in charge, everything went well, the hounds being in good condition, and working splendidly. The afternoon's sport was poor, hares being very scarce. An adjournment was afterwards made to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Salway, where afternoon tea was provided. Mr. Chaney, on behalf of the club, thanked the host and hostess for their kindness, and hearty cheers were given for Mr. and Mrs. Salway and children. Mr. Salway returned thanks, and then the hunt disperkd. Among those present were: Mr. Chaney on Star Lass, A. Cliff on Koru and jKiri, L. Pepperill on Pikau, W. Loriergan on Singlet, Lash on Jack, W. Cole on Wideawake, R. Rook on Bachelor's Button, W. Boulton on Pompey, E. Julian (acting-whip), Tom Valentine on Necktie, C. Wright on Clementine, Carthew on Coolgardie, Mr. Matthews on Rua, Foreman on Sea Breeze, Stockman on Munga Park, W. T. Hookham on Otaraoa, Misses I. Salway on Starlight, V. Johns on, Astronomer, T. Jones pn Drudgery, H. Russell on Zante, W. Young on Bay Paul, Miss Jackson on Rakaway, Misses Cholmeley on Kitty and Dover, Misses Wheatley. Miss Quigjley was the only lady to jump the fences Wd follow the pack. Amongst the onlookers were Mr. and Mrs. Salway, Miss M. fMway, Mr. and Mrs. J. McGiven, Drs.Leatham and Milroy, Mrs. and Miss ieatham, Rev. Wilkinson, Mr. Blundell, Mr. T. King, Misses Kingdon, Matthews, Cutfield, Mrs. Cutfleld (Wanganui), Mrs. Little, Mrs. Gribbon, Misses Gribbon and McGrath (Auckland), Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Webster, Mr. A. Humphries, Mrs. Julian, Mr. N. Bewley, Misses Mackie and Glynes, Mrs. Lee, Misses McAllum, I. Street, Mrs. Monk, and Misses S. Bayly and K. Bennett. Next Thursday the meet will be at Urenui.
