PICTURES AND MORALS
MR. J. PULLER REPLIES TO REV. J. J. NORTH. Auckland, Tuesday. At the King's Theatre last night, Mr. •Tolm Fuller replied to the criticisms passed by the Rev. J. J. North at Christchuvch, concerning the need of a censor of kinenmtograph films to guarantee that nothing of an objectionable nature should be presented at picture shows. Mr. North said that when lie was in Palmerston he was informed that a municipal officer there inspected the films used in the Municipal Theatre, and had to reject large numbers sent out from the Old Country. Mr. Fuller said that for twelve months his firm had supplied the programmes for the Municipal Theatre in Palmerston North, and during each wcck only enough pictures were sent to be sufficient to complete the programme, and none had been thrown out. They did not want a censor, and if the pictures were bad the public would stay away. A resolution was unanimously passed by the audience to the following effect:—"That on no occasions have the many tluntmnds of patrons who have visited tlie King's Theatre ever witnessed a picture that could be taken exception to by any class, or one of a cnaractcr injurious from a moral standpoint.''
