IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT
THE VETO BILL. GOVERNMENT WINNING ITS WAV. By cable.—Press Association.—Copyright London, May 2. In the House of Commons, by means of the kangaroo closure —which instead of taking sentence by sentence takes a whole clause at a time—the amendments to clause 2 were disposed of. Mr. Asquith agreed that the two years prior to the passage of a Bill over the head of the House of Lords should date from the second rending, not from the introduction of a Bill. The Government refused an amendment ensuring that the sessions should be of ordinary length, not bogus sessions in order to evade the Parliament Bill. REPLIES TO QUESTIONS. London, May 2. Sir Edward Grey, in reply to Mr. Dillon, said that France's action was not intended to alter the political status of Morocco, and" his Majesty's Government did not see why any objection should be taken.
Mr. Harcourt, in reply to a question, said fcha>t the Government had requested Lord Dudley to obtain reports from Ministers regarding the operation of the referendum in the Commonwealth. —(Unionist cheers).
Major Archer Shee asked if the referendum had destroyed the representative system in Australia, but received no answer. "ALL FOR IRELAND." London, May 2. Mr. P. Guiney, M.P., addressing the "AH for Ireland" Party at Cork, said the Irish Party offered him £IOOO if he resigned the North Cork seat and helped the Redmond-ites to secure it.
