INGLEWOOD NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent). The municipal elections passed off very quietly here, and resulted in all the old council going into office again, with the addition of Mr. D. H. McDonald,. who has also represented the ratepayers on several occasions previously. The Teturn of all the retiring members shows unmistakably that their efforts have been appreciated. The re-flooring of the railway station has been completed, and the set of fire buckets installed in case of an outbreak in the station.
The hockey dance held in the Parish hall on Thursday evening was a pronounced success, despite the adverse weather conditions. A team of hockey players . from Kltham was expected down on Thursday night to Temain to the dance, but owing to the rough weather did not arrive. Miss Kennedy, Messrs. Kennedy and Lamb supplied excellentj music, while Mr. M. Priest filled the role of MX'., in hi.* usual efficient manner.
The Inglewond fooliall team will this year be without the services of the Tariki Club, who ran a first junior team for the club last year. However, things seem more promising in the football field than they have done for some ■seasons, and if the players are keen and practise assiduously, there is no reason why they should not render a good account of themselves.
The Hockey Club is agitating for the installation of junior fixtures. Their position at present is rather awkward. They have a large membership, but this includes a lot of new members, who are hardly up to senior form. If they enter two equal teams they lose all chance of the shield, while if they enter A and B teams it means that the li team must play right through the season probably without winning a game—not a very encouraging outlook for young players. The seven-a-side tournament organised by the football club is to be held on the 4th .May. Nominations, which are local, will be received lip till Wednesday night. " i Mr. llawson gave an interesting lecture oil Friday evening in the schoolroom on the use of the cash book. There was a good attendance, and the lecture was much appreciated, especially by business men. Mr. G. Gudgeon did the local irolf links in 44 on Saturday—a record for thi3 season.
