Lord Selborne, addressing the Liberal Union Club, said be would rather see the House of Lords abolished than reduced to a sham. The advent of socialism was impossible without civil war, but the were as near a revolution as possible under Parliamentary forms. A temporary and precarious majority in the House of Commons was threatening a great era of usurpation. Lord Lansdowne has given notice that he will introduce the Lords Reform Bill on May 8.
