BOOKMAKERS ON STRIKE. By cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Melbourne, April 26. , Bookmakers at Scarsdale races struck because it was believed the judge's decision was wrong in the first race. DIAMONDS IN TASMANIA. Hobart, April 25. Diamonds have been discovered in considerable quantity on Flinders Island. RAILWAY FATALITY. Sydney, April 26. An engine and trucks left the line near Burrenjuck, and completely overturned. The driver, Sibrad, was pinned under the tender in a pool of water for three hours and died later from frightful injuries. The only passenger escaped unhurt. THE ALLEGED TIMBER COMBINE. Sydney, April 20. Timber merchants deny the existence of a combine. They state that there will be no increase in the price of timber, although cut-throat competition is deprecated. VICTORIAN BUTTER EXPORTS. Melbourne, April 20. The season's exports of butter reached 21,606 tons, a record.
