NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The annmtl meeting of the New Plymouth Hockey Club, which had been Adjourned from last week, was held in the Town Hall last night. Mr. W. Woods occupied the chair, and tive other members were present. Several new members were elected. The eleventh annual report regretted that the club had not made progress as regards membership and public patronage, as had been done in other centres. The club membership was now just the bare eleven, as against thirty when first formed. Last year the club won the Northern championship, and only suffered defeat by Hawera by one goal after extension of time for play. The financial position was not so good as last year, there being now a credit balance of £3 12s fld, as against £5 2s "d last year, but the club owed £.5 5s to a trust fund on account of a donation by Mr. F. W. Fagan for a shed, and was therefore £1 12s Gd in debt. The incoming committee would need to go into the matter of holding a dance to wipe off the deficiency. The Saturday half-holi-day would probably have a big effeer on the number of members available for Thursday, and it might be advisabln to consider the formation of a Saturday club and association. The report also urged on members the necessity of practice, so as to improve the combination and place before the public a better exposition of the game. The report was adopted. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Mr. F. P. Cbrkill; president, Dr. Fookes; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. VV. Govctt, T. Avery, F. W. Fagan, V. H. Heal, and Stanley Smith; club captain, Mr. J. E. Avery ; auditor, Mr. H. Stockcr; delegate to association, Mr. W. Wood; secretary, pro tem., Mr. J. E. Avery; management committee, to be . elected later.
