The Taranaki bowling team played a two-rink practice match against Waverley, and were defeated by two points— Waverley 48, Taranaki 40. INTER-STATE MATCH. Sydney, April 17. New South Wales was beaten by Victoria in the second game by 98 to 94. MATCHES POSTPONED. Received 17, 10.35 p.m. Sydney, April 17. Owing to continuous rain, all bowls fixtures were postponed. NEW PLYMOUTH v. INGLEWOOD. At Inglewood .yesterday two matches were played between tennis from New Plymouth and Inglewood. Inglewood won on the aggregate by 27 points. On the New Plymouth green on Friday afternoon a progressive pairs touTnament was played, thirteen pairs taking part. Five rounds of six heads each were played, and at the finish there were four pairs tieing with one loss each. These were Ha lie aiul Medley s.), L. Goldwater and Bishop (s.), and J. C. Morey and Penn (s.). They will play off for tlie trophy on the first available opportunity.
