TARANAKI HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. The annual report of the Taranaki Hockey Association to be presented at the meeting to-morrow evening is as follows:—In presenting the tenth annual 1 report of the Association your committee congratulates the Association on its sound financial position, there being a credit balance of £l2 18s 3d. Although sound as far as funds are concerned, the Association is losing ground in popularity with the public, through the lack of interest taken in the game by the players. Outside of the club competitions the members trouble very little about the welfare of the Association, and the progress of the giime generally. It should be the duty of every member to make it convenient if called upon to travel when a rep. team is sent on tour. The Association is not at present in a position to finance a touring team, and unless members are willing to bear thetxpenses and return the visits of Wellington, Wanganui, Manawatu and Hawke's Bay this coming season, there is not much likelihood of the Association ever having the funds to send a team on tour. Auckland disappointed us very much last season by not sending a team as promised. Early this year enquiries were made into the matter, and it is practically certain that a team will visit us this season. The Hawera Club must be congratulated 011 again annexing the Clarke Shield. The thanks of the Association are due to the Press for the interesting reports they have always given us of the matches, etc.
