A CALLOUS CAPTAIN
TIIE LOSS OF THE IROQUOIS. By Oable —Press Association—Copvricrht, Ottawa, April 14. At the official enquiry into the wreck of the Iroquois the captain of the steamer admitted that lie went home after landing from the lifeboat and did not wait to search for the bodies of the deck hands. He declared that a number of women passengers decided to leave the vessel before she started, in consequence of the weather. The captain told them not to be cowards. Tliev returned on board, and all were drowned. CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER. Ottawa, April 10. Rears, captain of the Iroquois, has been arrested and cliarprorl with manslaushter. Evidence nt the inquest showed that the captain did not take proper precautions for the passengers' safety.
