XGAMOTU CLUB TOURNAMENT. The Ngamotu Cub's tournament was commenced on Saturday morning in weather that tried the keenest golfer. The enthusiasm, however, was so generally great that 38 out of 43 players that had entered for the qualifying round of 3G holes for the Taraiuki amateur championship and teams match combined with medal handicap, opened the ball in heavy rain. THE TEAMS MATCH. The teams match provided an exciting match, the Hawera team just beating Ngamotu A by 3 points, Wanganui coming third. Miles, 95-89-184; total, 719. PUTTING MATCHES. The putting green was not as well patronised as usual, owing to the wet weather. -Six men tied with 17—Messrs. W. B. Glasgow, A. Bewlev, Kitto, G. Saunders, Kidston and Perston. They will have to play off, Mrs. Johns won the ladies' putting prize for Saturday. The tournament was continued yesterday (Monday) in a stiff south-easter, which made it quite difficult to stand on the tees. BOGEY HANDICAP. Four very interesting matches eventuated in the first round of the championship in the morning, leaving the semifinal for the afternoon. O'Callaghan only beat W. Bewley at the 21st hole. Gillies with the excellent score of 15, his brother, 11. S. Gillies, being second with 18. MissesSaxton, Standish and Stephenson tied for the ladies' prize with 18 each. The Tournament Committee are working indefatigably. - The Ladies' Committee are of great assistance. TO-DAYS MATCHES. To-day a lx>jj»y handicap of 18 holes will be played in the morning, the final of the championship at noon, and a pairs best ball bogey handicap, of 1# holes, after the finish of the championships.
