WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD

(From Our Ofrn Correspondent). At the monthly meeting of the above Board there were present: Messrs. J. Connett (chairman), French, Hall, Surrey and Turnbull. Correspondence was read from the Chief Surveyor, New Plymouth, stating that road frontage of Pukerangiora Pa would be cleared of gorse for the road grader; from Tourist Department, re erecting finger-posts on road corners; from Labor Department notifying Thursday as the statutory closing day for shops. Mr. Surrey reported that Mr. Wilson had not cut the fern on York road, and he had instructed the surfaceman to do it. The chairman 'reported that Mr. Tate had been delayed in starting with the road grader through the new blade for same not having come to hand, but he hoped to commence in a day or two; also that Mr. Montefiore had informed him that he had another contract for a supply of 1200 yards of metal to the Hawera borough, but would, repair the Te Arei road as. soOn as carting to the station was finished. Mr. Mcßeth attended the meeting, and. requested that a portion of Te Arei road, near his entrance, be formed. —Agreed to, Mr. Hollins and the natives to be requested to clear furze from their frontage so that the road could be ploughed. Surfaceman Palmer reported that he i had assisted Mr. G. Hill in repairing Kelly road culvert, had cut fern on York road, and on side track of Waitara road. The filling on Matarikoriko road had j been fenced, and earth put where sides were worn away. The surfacemen were instructed to put in the two ; sets of concrete pipes on Everett road. A portion of Tikorangi road, leading to Mrs. Spargo's, was ordered to be formed with road grader. Accounts "were passed, for payment, and the Board adjourned.
