OTAGO'S POSSIBILITIES
MR. MASSEY IMPRESSED. | By Telegraph— Press Association. I Dunedin, Wednesday. Mr. Massey was waited on by a deputation representing the two Otago Railway Leagues and Dunedin citizens. In reply, Mr. Massey said that the more he saw of Central Otago the more impressed lie was with its possibilities. It was eminently adapted for closer settlement, and had great possibilities for development. He spoke as a private member and pointed out that the position was one above party. Ministers had expressed the opinion that the railways sought for would not return a fair rate of interest. He did not agree with them. Of the country he had seen he was convinced it would carry twenty settlers for every one carried to-day, and carry them well. He suggested that Otago people should apply for a Government commission to report on the possibilities of Otago.
