DRAMATIC SCENE IN COURT
MURDERESS TRIES TO STRANGLE • lIER LAWYER. Paris. February 23. There was an extraordinary scene this afternoon in the law courts at Mont-j hrison at the close of the trial for murder of a woman named Louche. I She had been sentenced to twenty years' hard labor when suddenly she bent over the edge of the dock and made a desperate attempt to strangle her J lawyer with a boot-lace. She hud tied a in one end of the bont-lace. J and she .slipped it over the lawyer's head ' and pulled hard. The unfortunate lawyer was hlack in the face when he was rescued. As the woman was being taken out of court she tore herself free from the guards and tried to commit suicide with a hatpin which she had managed to conceal in her dress. This attempt also failed. The woman fainted and \va.s removed to prison.
