MUNICIPAL MATTERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. A good deal of interest is being taken in the municipal elections. Some feeling is shown over the refusal of the returning officer to place a booth near the harbor for the convenience of the wharf and store hands. There are about 5000 names on the roll, which closes to-morrow. A RECHABITE DELEGATE. Wanganui, Last Night. Mr. Churchill, one of the Rechabite i delegates touring New Zealand, visited Wanganui to-day. He was entertained at tea by lodge members, and subsequently addressed a public meeting, the attendance at which was interfered with by rain.FROM SUNDAY ISLAND. Wellington, Last Night. The captain of the Government training ship Amokura, which has reached the Great Barrier after visiting the Kermadec Islands, telegraphed to the Marine Department that she has brought the Bell family from Sunday Island, where they had resided for many years. The Bells have abandoned Sunday Island, owing to a waterspout having demolished their home and devastated their, crops. ASSAULTED AND ROBBED. Wellington, Last Night. An assault and robbery was committed in Sydney 9trcet last night, and a man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the affair. From information available, it appears that a Wellington man named James Richardson arrived in town from Feilding on Moday night with a considerable sum of money in his possession, and while proceeding along Sydney street he was assaulted and robbed of £44. About nine o'clock Detectives Cameron and Hammond arrested Norman Manson on suspicion, and at the Magistrate's Court to-morrow lie will be charged with assaulting Richardson and robbing him of £44. •- " v „ Jll
