A TERRIBLE FIRE
mm A CIIARNEL HOUSE IN A FEW MLNfUTES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 12, 12.25 a.m. Bombay, April 11. Details of the Poona Are show that 1500 villagers at Sahimbre assembled .for a performance in a covered courtyard. The doors, opening inwards, were closed with a stout bar. An explosion of a petroleum lamp caused the fire, and a stampede occurred. Soon the courtyard was a smouldering charnel house. There were extra exits, but these were Jcnown only by the local spectators. But for these the death roll would have been greater. Many of the victims came from a distance.
