ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

DROWNED WHILE BATHING. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Auckland, Monday. A man named Arthur Ryan, n Hakaru settler, was drowned while bathing on Luke's Beach, Tamaki River, Otahuhu, yesterday afternoon. Ryan, who was about fifty years of age, was staying with his wife at the residence of Dr. Rowley, his brother-in-law. At three o'clock in the afternoon he set out for a bathe. As he did not return when expected, his relatives became anxious, and instituting a search, discovered his clothes in the bathing hut. At seven o'clock in the evening the facts were reported to the police, and after further search Evan's body was found two hours later on the beach. Deceased was known to be a good swimmer, and it is surmised his death resulted through cramp.
