PROPOSED RAILWAY DEVIATION
LEVIN TO GREATFORD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Levin, Saturday. The Levin to Greatford railway deviation route was discussed last night before a large meeting of settlers from Levin and neighboring districts. A speech by the Mayor of Levin showed the acreage covered in the proposed route was ;!00,000, and that practically 400 square miles of country at the present time, not served by a railway would be reached, and the present Main Trunk line journey would be reduced fifteen miles in length, and one hom in time, as this route is more level than via l'almerston. It was unanimously resolved to request the Govern- , ment to take immediate action to have, a trial survey made in accordance with promises given by the Prime Minister. Further action wns referred to the Levin Chamber of Commerce.
