INGLEWOOD TECHNICAL SCHOOL
FORMAL OPENING. The Technical School was formally opened on Thursday afternoon, when there was a good attendance of householders. Mr. A. F. Thomson, secretary of the school committee, referred briefly to the first motion in favor of its erection some four or five years ago. The first and chief credit was due to Mr. Cone, the then chairman of the committee, who was very keen on all matters sohokstie. Mr. Trimble, a member of the Education Board, in the unavoidable absence of its chairman, referred to the use of the technical school for training purposes for the youths of the present day. He instanced several cases where useful work on school premises had been done by the boys of the technical schools. He urged the townspeople, for the reputation of the town, to see that the necessary balance was made up. He then declared the school open. Mr. G. W. Bennett, deputy-Mayor, on behalf of the Ciglewood residenti, thanked those who had worked so willingly for the erection of the building. He had no doubt that the classes held would be well attended and appreciated, and would result in groat benefit to the residents' children. Mr. Hopson, a member of the Mo* riding of the Taranaki County Council, congratulated the people of the district on the success of their efforts, and said that he himself had helped in the 1 obtaining of the £25 grant from the Council. He was in favor of the establishment of dairying and agricultural classes. A tour of inspection of the building followed, after which afternoon tea was dispensed.—Own correspondent.
