■> KILLED BY A HORSE. By Tefegraph—Press Association. Hawera, Friday. Con Boyle died in the hospital on Thursday from injuries received as the result of a kick in the abdomen from a horse on Sunday last. The deceased was very popular among sporting people. ' A CHILD RUN OVER. Dunedin, Last Night. Robert Stevens, six years of age, was run over by a cart at North East Valley last evening. SUICIDE AT SEVENTY-ONE. Dunedin, Last Night. Andrew McKenzie, 71 years of age, living by himself at Waitati, was discovered this morning in a critical condition. He nformed the police he bad taken "rough on rats,", and his removal to the hospital was ordered. He died to-night before reaching the institution. MAORI CHILDREN AND A GUN. Auckland, Last Night. A report has been received of a seri ous gun accident at Waima, Hokianga. It is stated that four Maori children of different parentage, in the absence of adult control, procured an old doublebarrelled gun. which they loaded with powder and then attempted to fire off by means of live embers. The gun exploded, with the result that two of the children were seriously injured, whilst lesser injuries were sustained by the others. The details at present available regarding the accident arc fragmentary, but Dr. Buck, M.P., has left for Waima to render surgical aid.
