GALE AND BUSH FIRES

IN EKETAHUNA DISTRICT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Eketahuna, Last Night. The Haunui correspondent of the Eketahuna Express reports a severe gale on Tuesday. E. Jewitt's new residence was considerably damaged, the wind blowing timber through several large windows. The gale freshened up the log fires on one property, and these spread. At Kent Terrace, the Ranch, and Otapawa, residences were onl> saved by strenuous efforts, and damage was confined to firewood and fencing. One settler was temporarily blinded.
