STATE FERRIES IN SYDNEY
- A COMPREHENSIVE SCHEME. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 7, 12.30 a.m. Sydney, April 6. The Government has submitted to the Tramway Construction Advisory Board a scheme of State ferries connecting Ndrth Shore with the city. It provides two services between these thickly populated points. The Government already owns the proposed sites. It is stated that the cost of deviating certain train routes is not great. The suggestion is that the ferries will be free to travellers on trains to the wharves, it being considered the present company's ten minutes' service is inadequate. When in opposition the Labor Party frequently advocated a free service. The company recently made a 10 per cent, reduction on season tickets.
