TECHNICAL COLLEGE

MEETING OF ADVISORY BOARD. The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth Technical College Board was kehi' in the Technical College on April 3rd. There were present: Messrs. Am bury, Baker, Dolbv, Francis, Blancliard, E. Griffiths, F. Bcllringer, W. H. Griffiths, W. A. Ballantyne (director), and F. ,1. Hcatley (organiser). In the absence ol Mr. Corkill, Mr. Dolby occupied the chair.

A letter was received from Mr. Fincham (caretaker) applying for a rise in salary. It was decided that this matter be left in the hands of the special sub-eommittee appointed to act with the grounds committee. Messrs. Nixon and Nixon wrote recommending the purchase of an electric motor for the science classes.—The matter was left in the hands of the president, J[r. Corkill, with power to act. Mr. Ballantyne (director) reported that the Department had agreed to thh proposed alteration in the name of the school. The name now is the Technical College; also that the Department had granted a set of Cousins' models for the art classes.

Mr. Heat-ley (organiser) reported that the equipment of the science room was inadequate, and suggested that extra apparatus be obtained.—His suggestion was referred to the Classes and Syllabus sub-committee. On the motion of Mr. Bcllringer, il was decided that a joint report on the condition of the classes and the general efficiency of the college be presented to each monthly meeting by the organiser and the superintendent. It was decided that notice of all meetings will be given in the Press, bo that a reporter may attend. Domestic Classes.—The president (Mr. Corkill) and the organiser (Mr. Heatley) were authorised to place themselves in communication with the local braiich of the W.C.T.U., with a view to their assisting domestic classes. An effort will also be made by the Classes and Syllabus sub-committee to make arrangements for day cooking classes.
