TARANAKI WINTER SHOW
THE SCHEDULE. Wit It this morning's issue we arc publishing the schedule of the second annual winter show, to be held in New Plymouth on June 7, 8, i), and 10, under the auspices of the Taranaki Agricultural Society. The schedule is one that will well repay perusal by every fanner and resident in the province, as there are, in all, 215 different classes, of such scope that every farmer and householder should without any difficulty be able to provide one entry. Since the liivt winter show, Uust year, the prize money has been increased greatly, and a large number of new classes have been added. For the butter and cheese classes, liberal prizes are offered, including two fine challenge cups, each valued at £25. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Shipping Company's £25 cup is to be held for twelve mouths by the factory sending in the best s(ilb. box of butter, suitable for export. The New Zealand Shipping Company's ,€25 cup will be held by the factory sending the best crate of Xew Zealand Cheddar cheese (white or colored), suitable for export. Both of these are open to any factory in Xew Zealand There is also n champion butter competition, and one open to novices. The farm products classes have been well catered for. One that should cause keen interest is the district farm products competition. In this the farmers of each riding, in either the Clifton. Stratford, Egmont, or Taranaki county, can combine and make a display of anything that has been produced on farms in their riding. Besides the honor there is cash to the value of £lO for first prize, and £5 for second prize. For collection of farm products locally grown, from one farm, there is a substantial prize of £>2 2s for first, and £1 Is for second. Messrs. E. (irilliths and Co.'s swede competition for a gold watch valued at .£lO 10s is also to be decided at show time. The fruit, vegetable and root classes show a considerable increase, as also do the home industries, which also include anything that can be made by boys and girls. For technical school classes there are separate competitions open to children throughout the district. After careful perusal the schedule should be hung up somewhere handy for future reference. For the convenience of intending competitors an entry form is attached. The committee is endeavoring to arrange accommodation so that country children coming from a distance may be able to spend two days at the show.
