BLACK OUTLOOK ]}f CANTERBURY. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Timaru, Last Night. The drought has broken, but not half $ an inch of rain has fallen yet. Mr. W. Talbot, chairman of Uit Farmers' Union, said yesterday that the past month has been disastrous to the pastoral industry. The turnip crop had almost wholly failed on the low coun- , try, and grass was very short. Th« ' wheat yield had been good, but if tb« returns of the total were correct, ther« would not be much surplus for export.
