FINANCING LABOR MEMBERS

QUESTION IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. LABORITES HOLDING THE FORT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 2, 5.5 p.m. London, April 1. In the House of Commons, Mr. Claud Lowthcr (Conservative member for Kskdale division of Cumberland) asked I whether the trades unions had financed the forty Labor members elected to the House of Commons at the recent election, despite the Osborne judgment. The Premier (Mr. 11. H. Asquith) declined to make a definite statement. Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald, the leader, interviewed regarding Mr. Lowthcr's question, said it was generally true that the Labor party were not breaking the law; they were simply ignoring it. No injunction had been placed on trades unions. They would continue'doing as before. They declined to recognise things which were admitted to be unfair, and which were about to be removed. The Laboiites were holding the fort while the House of Commons considered a remedy.
