PLAGUE AT ONEHUHGA
THREE PEOPLE AFFECTED,
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Monday
During the past week two men anct a woman have been under treatment in Auckland Hospital for an illness the symptoms of which are said to have resembled a mild form of bubonic plague. They wore residents of Onehunga, where one of the men conducted a fruit and confectionery business in two small shops. He was assisted by his wife, and a man who is the third patient. In order that there should be no possible risk of contagion in the event' of the illness being of a scriom nature, the contents of the two shops have been removed and burnt and the buildings thoroughly disinfected and portions condemned, particularly because of their insanitary condition. The three patients are recovering, and as no fresh case has been reported the health authorities believe that the disease has been stamped out.
