Towns (26 see) 2, Hagney (ser) 3. Ripley was the limit man, and his generous allowance secured him a runaway victory, none of the other eleven starters ever having a look in. Shaping well and going strong lie easily maintained his lead, finishing seven lengths to the good. Hagney and N. Towns made a good showing, and were close together at the ifinish. Towns (30see) ran fourth. Fowell made a disappointing effort, probably due to indisposition. Beaten Scullers Handicap.—McKinnon (48see) 1, Messenger (20si*c) 2, J. Arnst (2lssec) 3. There were several slight mishaps early in the race. Hopping turned turtle and threw Carter and Kemp out of the running. When he settled down, McKinnon took charge, and was never headed, winning by two lengths. Arnst, who was shaping well, pushed Messenger close for second place. R. Arnst did not start.
