AN APPEAL CASE. By Telegraph.—PrfM Association. Westport, Friday. Mr, Justice Denniston reserved judgment in the police appeal re the sale of. liquor on Monday, December 20. HOSPITAL BOARD CASE. Ashburton, Friday. Judgment was delivered this morning in the case of Henry Davis v. Hugo Friedlander, when Mr. Day, S;M., said he could not dismiss the charge "or take account of the triviality of the amount involved, and would therefore convict Friedlander and order him to pay the costs, amounting to £2 13s. LIQUOR CONVICTIONS. Mastertoo, Last Night. In the Magistrate's Court to-day Richard Haviland, who had previously been convicted, was sent to gaol for three months for sly-grog selling. John Brown, for a breach of the Licensing Act, in giving an order for liquor without supplying the name of the person for whom it was intended, was /fined £1 and £1 costs. • ,!-•,.
