Sir Edward Tennant, at the Canadian Club banquet at Vancouver, spoke of the prospects of the Monroe doctrine, and declared that Oriental immigration would lead to trouble in the Pacific a few years hence. He warned Canada to widen her political outlook, and to strengthen herself for the great part she was certain to play in the Empire's future.
