TARURUTAXrj. (From our Own Correspondent). Mr. C. Johnston's machine is busy threshing in the district, and, judging by report', there are some very good yields, some going as high as 40 bushels per acre, which, I think, speaks well for the land around here. A good rain is badly needed, as the wells belonging to various settlers are nearly dry. and in some cases water has to be carried some distance. The annual school picnic takes place on the 30th inst. The committee have everything well in hand, and, given a line day. the function ?hould be a great success. A good programme is being arranged for the evening's concert. The local milk supply is falling away very fast, the amount of butter made being ei.nsidernbly'lcss than at this time last year. Miss Ida Copestake. who has been very ill, is making a good recovery, and we will all be pleased to sec her about again. Mr. 0. Street ha,.s just completed" his gravelling contract for the County Council.
