URGENT CALL FOR HELP. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright ! ~ Sydney, March 22. j t , A French steamer brings news thai there was a revolt of the natives in the island of Santo Juste. Before thi steamer left New Caledonia a schooner arrived from the island with an urgent call for help from the white settlers, whose lives were threatened by the revolt of the natives. The British and French authorities arranged for the immediate despatch of a police force and the French warship KeTsaint. The result of their mission is not known. INTER-TRIBAL FIGHTING. NUMBERS KILLED. Received 23, 12.10 a.m. Sydney, Last Night. Advices by the island steamer state that the native trouble at Santos is the outcome of long standing quarrels between the coast and inland natives. Numbers had been killed on both sides. The punitive expedition had arrived and departed for the seat of the trouble, which it was expected would soon be quelled.
