WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD

(From our Ow* Correspondent). 1 At tho monthly meeting of the above board there were present:—Messrs J. S. • Connett (chairman), Ilall, Surrey, and Turnbull. Correspondence was read from the Borough Council, requesting that they be supplied with a list of ratepayers having a vote in Waitara harbor district; from Mr. F. Merrin re fencing pound paddock; and from the Agricultural Department, notifying amendments | to the Noxious Weeds "Act. The chairman reported that he had seen Mr. R. Tate, and that the latter would be able to work the road grader on district roads after he had finished those in tho Clifton county, which would be in about a month's time. He had also taken legal advice re raising ptyes in culvert on York road, and found that the board had power to do so. It was resolved to inform Mr. Hoby that the board intends to raise the pipes in York road culvert to the present water level. Surfaceman Giddy reported that he had assisted in filling over culvert on Pennington road, and formation of hill; hud carted planks for decking York road bridge; and started grading hill on Cross road. .Surfaceman Palmer reported he had been assisting Mr. G. Hall to repair bridges on Kelly road fdlings. Extra pipes were required on Waitara road to go under the proposed side track, and a lilling on Matarikoriko road required fencing. He had seen Mr. Haskell re getting out metal from Lucas' pit for Pennington road, and he would get this at 3s 3d per yard. '1 he pipes for Waitara road and fencing filling oil Matarikoriko road were authorised. \

It was left in the surfaceman's hands to arrange re Pennington road metal. The. grading of a portion of Kelly road beyond Mr. Frederickson's was authorised.

Accounts were passed for payment, and the board adjourned.
