UNCERTIFICATED TEACHERS
THE EXAMINATION TEST. It was decided by the Taranaki Education Board some months ago that uncertificated teachers in its service must sit for examinations and obtain or attempt to obtain certificates, if they hope to continue in the service of the board. The inspectors reported at last night's meeting that 'the following uncertificated teachers, who sat for the teachers' examinations in January last, completed their certificates or gained a partial pass:— M. Wilson (Marco), M. Berry (Bird), C. Evetts (West End), H. Black (Waitui), I. Bunyan (Albert), W. Jemison (York), E. McGregor (Punga-, rehu),o. Melsaac (West End), M. Brere-! ton (Oeo), 11. Fenton (Egmont Village),] E. Knox (Norfolk), J. A. Thomas (Puni-j ho), M. Vickers (Upper Mangorei), W.| Wagstaff (Waihi). The services of| these teachers will naturally be retained' by the board. The following, who sat, failed to secure a pass:—M. Fowler (liaimiro), H. Lewis (Rahotu), S, Buchler (Te liiri), M. Bollinger (Tluiroa), M. Watkins (Mohakau), D. Jloby (Huiakama), S. Mills (Hillsborough). The inspectors recommended that these teachers be given a further opportunity of securing their certificates. The following is a list of the teachers who did not present themselves for examination:—H. Catton (Hurimoana and Tahora), M. Breen (Whangamomona), F, J. Eggleton (Okau and Tongaporutu), I.
