MONTHLY MEETING. Tlie Land Board met yesterday. Present: Mr. F. Simpson (Commissioner of Drown Lands), in the. chair, Messrs lies lop, Rattenbury, McG'luggage, and Kennedy. The Commissioner notified that Mr. J. McCluggage had been re-appointed a member of the Board. TRANSFERS. The following were recommended for approval; — G. Goodsir to G. and J. A. Goodsir, section 12, block 1, Piojiiotea North. J. W. Gedge to F. S. Gedge, part section 9, block 7, Omona. Joh» Robinson to \Y. Sangster, section 14, block 9, Totoro. N. Olsen to Isaac Samuels, section 8, block 2, Ohura. A. E. K. Person to P. McLean and Iv. Parker, section 3, block 12, Aria. H. E. Mclvor to C. W. Drake, section 8, block 11, Ohura. G. W. Taylor to G. \V. Taylor and S. G. Corbett, section 13, block Opaku. J. E. Garland to E. K. Blundell, section 10, block 5, Upper Waitara. L. Dobson to A. ,G. Prideaux to J. 11. Robson, section 25, block 4, and section 7, block 8, Ngatimaru. R. C. Watson to S. Parkcs and J. H. Brooker, section 44, block 11, Opunake. E. Jamieson to E. Pawson, section G, block 9, Ohura. Consideration of the sub-lease J. Henry to J. E. Young, sections 1 and 2, block 4, Omona, was deferred. NON-COMPLIANCE. The following were granted six months' extension of time in which to comply with conditions of residence and improvements: — E. J. Meads, section.block S, Ohura. J. E. Ilastie, section 20, block 13, Mahoe, and sections 21 and 22, block 10, Ngatimaru. •0., Poole, section 11, block 1, Piopiotea. E, J, AshwelL section 2, b'wk 6, Ohura. .... Stuart and Bielieno, section 1, block 11, Aria. The Board resolved to confirm the forfeiture of A. J. Whittaker, section 1, block 2, Piopiotea West, for non-res!-dcncG. RANGERS' REPORT?, E. Toimo, Crown Lands ranger, reported on the inspection of six holdings. Improvements effected were £1394; required £OOO. One has not ell'ected sufficient improvements. H. T. Twiss reported on the inspection of seven holdings. Improvements totalled £1872, against improvements required £I2OB. It was resolved thai the usual action be taken. F. Tolnie reported on the application of Waitaanga settlers lor permission to erect a building on Crown land at the junction of W'aitaanga West and Tonga-porutu-.Mangaroa roads. —It was resolved that an area in that position be set apart as a reserve for a public hall and library. FORFEITURE RESCINDED. P. G. D. A. Guinan appealed against forfeiture of section 25, ulock 11, Mapara, as he was now residing on it.— Forfeiture rescinded. J. Moloney appealed against forfeiture of section 12, block 12, Jlapara, as he now resided on the section.-—Forfeiture rescinded.. J. G. Buchanan wrote claiming an allowance for attending a meeting of the Board on January 21, 1911, in response to a summons of the Board.—Matter left in the hands of the Commissioner with power to act. With reference to the timber area in Pouatu and Waro survey districts, it was resolved that this Board recommend that the earliest opportunity be taken to dispose of in suitable areas the milling timber upon the sections in terms of the timber 'regulations under the Land Act, 190 S. Mr. Jenkins waited on the Board with reference to sub-division of sections 41 and 42, block 11, Ngaere.—The Board sees no objection to liis intentions. Messrs. Bullock and Currie wrote asking what procedure the Board will adopt with regard So leases of Opaku and Carlyle University reserves to be administered under the Taranaki Scholarships Endowment Act, 1910.—1t was resolved that in all future leases the Board will proceed under paragraph E of section 5, of the "Public Bodies I Leases Act, 1908." The following plans were laid on the I table: —Deviation of Tongaporutu-Man-. garoa road through section ;i, block 0, Waro; land taken for road through section 32, block 14, Ohura; Brcwer-Kirai road deviation, sections 29, 2. 3, and 4, block 15, Ngatimaru.—Resolved that the titles be amended accordingly. A schedule of selectors in arrears with rent to December 31, 1910, was laid on the table. The Okato Road Board submitted proposals for expenditure of £73 10s 2d, accrued thirds." —The ranger's report was read, and it was resolved that the proposals be approved with the exception of the variation proposed by the ranger, which is referred back to him for further consideration.

P. M. T.ong applied for a yearly lease of section-; 27 mid 30, block 4. town of Whangamoinona.—(! ranted, subject to termination at one month's notice.

X. Duller applied for lease of reserve of 100 acres adjoining his section 2, block 2, Hcao. —Ranger's report as to probable value for leasing to be ob* taincd. ' ■ '

A. !•'. Hloomlield asked (he Board to reconsider lii.s application for section 1/, block -1. Toioro. as an addition to his holding.—Resolved that the matter bo left in the hands of the Commissioner.

S. Smith applied to purchase closed part of Tloldsworthy road in his farm on Mangorei road. —Rr-ol\"ed 1 hfit the ranger's re]iort be obtained, also as to road access to native reserve.

IT. J. Dougherty, selector of section Hi, block IS. Ohura. applied for his lease.—Application granted. Mair and C'o. wrote asking the Board to reconsider its decision not to grant a lease of section 2. block 3, Tangitu, and to grant them the upper swampy end of section. —Resolved that the Board sees no reason to alter its previous decision.

Messrs. Malone, Anderson and Johnstone applied for freehold of the following sections: —J. Worthington. sections in"and 12, block 4, Oinona: Malone and Worthington, sections 24 and 20, block 4, Omona; Malone and Worthington, sections 10 and 21, block 3, Omona;

C'. R. Finnerty, section 5, block 11, Ngatimaru. —Approved.

Messrs. Roy and Nicholson applied on behalf of T. Furlong for freehold of sec tion 2, block 4, Upper Waitara.—Approved subject to ranger's report. The Waitomo County Council wrote altering its proposal for expenditure of accrued thirds to be spent on metalling Mokau-Ohura road, near Aria township—Deferred for ranger's report. Malone, Anderson and Johnstone wrote explaining difference in amount of consideration in deed and application to transfer D. K. Gooch to C. Goocli, of section 5, block 15, Ngatimaru—Approved. C. F. Kopke, lessee of section 2, block 10, Mahoe, complained that access to the section prevented his doing any improvements.—lt was resolved to inform him 'of expenditure on Tirohanga road. J. L. Sproull and others applied for thirds from their sections to be spent on Otonui North road, instead of on Ivumerau road as proposed by Ohura County Council—The ranger's report is to be adopted.
