The non-inclusion of the Department of Aube in the delimitation of the champagne area led to the resignations oi numerous municipalities. The red flag was hoisted in the majority of villages. AN ORGANISED REVOLT. Received 20, 10.30 p.m. Paris, March 20. Revolutionary meetings are being held in the Aube district. v Ten thousand, armed with hoes, ana carrying grape baskets in which were boxes of assessment papers, afterwards burned these in the market place, and declined to pay taxes. They effaced the motto "Liberte, Egalitc, Fraternity," with red paint from public buildings. The Premier, M. Monis, was burned in effigy. The municipal councils in forty towns have resigned. FAKED CHAMPAGNE. The new champagne law has been laid on the table of the Chamber of Deputies by the Minister of Finance. It has been framed for the purpose of protecting wine-growers of the champagne districts and ensuring, as far as the law can ensure it, a real champagne to purchasers of the famous wine. On the corks of all the bottles themselves, and on the cases containing them, the word "Champagne" is to he placed. No champagne will leave the district without these labels; no wine without them will be allowed into the district. The Government will appoint inspectors to see that the law is carried out, and will inflict fines of £2O to £2OO for each infringement.
