TO FIGHT THE UNIONS
A NOVEL PROPOSAL. By Cable—Press Association—CoTwrteht. Melbourne, March 18. As the result of negotiations which have been proceeding for some time, employers have drafted a scheme for the defence of employers and non-unionists from loss through strikes. It is proposed to raise a permanent fund of £200,000, the interest on which will be devoted to the defence of employers, to the support of a Free Workers - Society, and to the industrial education of free employees. Members of the society will be assisted to the extent of half wages in case of a "lock-out or strike. It is intended to found scholarships in connection with the society in each branch or trade. It is reported that the movement is receiving very strong support in Melbourne.
