W.C.T.U.
The final meeting for planning for the anual Convention was held on Wednesday. Every arrangement is now as complete as it can he at this stage, and, given fine weather, the Convention for 1911 should be a brilliant success. The New Zealand president. Mrs. Cole, will arrive with a large contingent of officers and delegates on Tuesday next, and amongst these will be sixteen superintendents of departments df work in which the N.Z.W.C.T.U. is engaged. A large number of invitations have been issued to the citizens of the town to a reception to'the members of the Convention in the Theatre Royal on the afternoon of the 23rd. At the same place in the evening, a most unique entertainment will be given. Children have been in training for months to give musical illustrations after certain departments of work have been described. The second part of the programme will be the temperance play, "The family that lived in a shoe." It must not be supposed for a moment that this entertainment is for children; there will be enjoyment and instruction in it for the most intelligent. A collection will be taken up to provide funds towards defraying the expenses. On the 30th inst. "Willard Night" will be given, mainly by the ladies of the. Convention, assisted by a large band of young New Plymouth ladies, who are being trained by Mrs. Hislop, of Dunedin. Tickets for "Willard Night" will be one shilling.
