COMPENSATION CASE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Xapier, Last Night. A compensation case was heard at the Arbitration Court to-day before Mr. Justice Sim and Messrs. Scott and McCulloeh, employers' and workers' representatives respectively, in which Arthur Edward Walker claimed from Horace Baker and Son and Tudor Nugent Baker 30s a week from October 18, 1910, money alleged to be due under the Compensation Act, 1008, claimant having sustained injury rendering him unfit for work. Evidence showed that Walker was paid till October IS, when payment ceased. The doctor's report suggested that another operation might benefit the claimant. An order was made for the payment of 30s a week from October 18 last, to be continued till the payment of £3OO, in accordance with the Act, had been made. The Court advised the claimant to submit to the operation. If by that the claimant so improved as to be able to work, it would be open to the insurance company to apply for cancellation of the order. Costs amounting to £7 7s were allowed, the respondents to paywitness' expenses.
