MOTORMAN CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Friday. In the charge of manslaughter against Ernest Dawe, tram motonnan, arising out of the death of Thomas Albert Thompson, killed by a moving car bumping into a standing car in Hobson street on November 10, the jury found accused guilty of neglect of duty with .extenuating circumstances, but not of gross neglect, and strongly recommended him to mercy. In reply to Mr. Justice Cooper, the foreman of the jury said that the jury was not unanimous as to extenuating circumstances, but by consent of the Crown Prosecutor and counsel for prisoner the finding was accepted and received by his Honor for consideration by the Court of Appeal as to whether it amounts to a verdict of guilty or acquittal, or whether a new trial should be ordered.
