THE SCHOOLS COMPETITION. At the High School ground yesterday West End defeated High School A by 57 to 42. For the winners Hooker scored 25 and Russell 11 (not out), whilst for the losers Mulloy scored 10. The concluding matches will be played on Monday, viz., West End v. Central; High School A v. Scouts; High School B v. Fitzroy. Hooker, who practically won the match for West End by scoring 2S and taking nine wickets for 15 runs, has. scored 110 runs this season at an average of 12.2. He has also taken 47 wickets at an average of 3.2. Montcath (Centrnl) runs him very elose, having scored the same number of runs, and the same average, and obtained 30 wickets at a cost of 3.8.
