A PARLIAMENTARY "PERK."

MEMBER ASSAULTED IX THE STREET. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Wednesday. An irate Maori woman made a vigorous attack on Henare Kaihau in Queen street, in front of the office in which Kaihau and Mahuta are established as land agents, raining' blows with her lists on the burly Native member. Kaihau stood the onslaught unresistingly for a short time, then grasped the woman by the wrists, whereupon she threw herself on the ground and attacked him with her feet. Kaihau then released her and beat a hasty retreat before his assailant, who, accompanied by a large crowd, followed him armed with a formidable hatpin. The appearance of a policeman on the scene put an end' to the incident.
