FESTIVAL OF EMPIRE

THE ATHLETIC TEAM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.

The ca.ble message from Sydney giving the selection of the Australasian team for the Festival of Empire sports is incomplete, and therefore a little misleading. No mention is made of Champion, the Auckland swimmer, who is to join the team. His passage has been booked by the Corinthic, leaving Wellington on March 23rd. A strong effort is also being made to send Opie, the Christchnivh sprinter, and it is expected that he will go. The arrangement is that only one competitor from Australasia will compete in each event, the selection of the candidate to be decided by a trial about three da"-; before the event.
