THE TAUHERENIKAU CAMP

An ofl'iciul visit was paid to the ICfluherenikau camp yesterday by Hia Excellency the Governor, the Acting-Prime Minister (Hon. J. Carroll), Acting-Min-ister of Defence {Hon. (J. Fo wills), Colonel Robin, and Colonel Collins. Xbej witnessed a series of operations to illustrate the scheme of (instruction. General Godley, Commandant, addressed the men, incisively summing up their operations. A short speech was given by Lord Islington, congratulating the men on the manner in which they had carried out the work of the camp during the past two months. He felt that the e*ergy and industry they had shown was an assurance that the forces under tbe new defence scheme would prove a credit to New Zealand, and of incalculable military aid to the Empire.
