Mr. McGowen, the Premier, promised the Amateur Sporting Federation's deputation a £1 for £1 subsidy up to £2OO towards sending representatives to the Empire Festival. Haskins, of Christchurch, has been selected to join the Australasian team to .compete at the Festival of Empire sports. Haskins will compete in the half-mile and mile running events.
