COALING BASK NOT NEEDED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. New York, March 8. The United States Navy League Convention at Los Angeles debated the question of the strength of the Pacific Fleet. Rear-Admiral Cone pointed out that the American navy of the future would burn oil instead of coal, and would consequently be independent of coaling bases. This would mean increased effectiveness.
