Minister, does not believe that any meat trust will be able to obtain a footing in Australia as it has in America, because the Government is hostile, ana the trust will never be able to obtain preferential treatment in the carriage of goods on railways against the isolated settlers. Even if the trust became established, it would be a simple matter for the Government to step in and handle the produce from co-operative works. The trust would have a hopeless struggle against the combined power of the people and the Government.
He does not think that, with the Federal Labor Government in power, and the State Parliaments rapidly getting into the hands of the .Labor Party, Australia will be regarded as a suitable place for the trust's operations.
