The Thursday Island steamer Winderoo reports that one of the launches searching for Mr. Staniforth Smith Is missing. The auxiliary ketch Sir Arthur has been dispatched to search for it. There is a vague rumor at Dara that six police of the original party have returned to their villages. Native reports state that while the Merrie England was searching the Kikori river the Government party's raft capsized in the river, and the party was massacred by natives. • Place! in the vicinity of the reported massacre have been searched, but substantiation of the report is not forthcoming. The Government agent at Thursday Island has wired that a steamer lias, arrived from Dnu, at the month of the Fly river. There is 110 news whatever there of the missing expedition. This is six days' later news than was cabled this morning.
