The reciprocity arrangement with Canada, according to Democratic opinion, is certain to pass during the extra session. CANADA AND NEW ZEALAND. Received 3, 11.55 p.m. Ottawa, March 3. The opponents of reciprocity assert that a drawback to the tariff agreement will he the adverse influence on Canada's trade relations with Australia and New Zealand, both of which had granted preference, by virtue of reciprocity with the United States, and Canada would thus be unable to make a trade bargain with either Australia or New Zealand. Parliament will probably sit until June.
AN IMPERIAL ALTERNATIVE. Received 3, 11.40 p.m. Ottawa, March 3. The revolting Liberals advise Sir W. Laurier, the Premier, not to proceed with the Reciprocity Bill, but that instead he should adopt a policy of free trade within the Empire.
