The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report holding their usual cattle sale on Monday this week instead of Tuesday, when there was a heavier yarding than was advertised. The attendance was large, and a good clearance of most lines was effected at prices somewhat better than ruling during the last two weeks. There were a good many weaners in the sale, which realised from 25s to 38s 0d; the latter price for a nice line of weaners from the Pembroke road of the Short-horn-cross type, which shows what careful breeding and rearing will do. The following prices were realised:— Eighteen to twenty-one month steers, 59s to 745; yearling heifdrs, 34s to 525; store cows, 70s to 84s; fat cows, 90s to 100s; bulls, 70s to 107s; bullocks, 110s to 119s; weaners, 25s to 38s 6d.
